Minimum Wage in Spain
Spain's minimum wage, the SMI, runs about 1,134 euros per month in 2024, paid in fourteen installments.
Overview
The salario minimo interprofesional is negotiated between government and social partners and has risen by more than half in real purchasing power since 2018, one of Europe's steepest sustained increases. The fourteen-payment structure, two extra months at mid-year and Christmas, shapes how Spanians quote the figure. Coverage is relatively broad given the labor market's small-firm structure, and economists debate effects on informal employment. Figures are approximate 2024 values set by decree.
