Minimum Wage in Mexico
Mexico's general daily minimum wage is about 249 pesos in 2024, with the northern border zone near 375 pesos.
Overview
Mexico quotes the minimum as a daily rate, and the zone system gives border manufacturing areas a premium recognizing US-side labor competition. The commission process (CONASAMI) has delivered large real increases since 2019, more than doubling the nominal general rate, a deliberate policy against decades of erosion. Even so, purchasing power remains far below US levels, and informal employment, over half the workforce, sits outside the floor's reach. Figures are approximate 2024 resolutions.
