Minimum Wage in Vietnam
Vietnam's region-based minimum wages run about 4.7 to 5.0 million dong per month in the top region in 2024, with three lower regional tiers.
Overview
Vietnam sets minimums by region, with region one covering Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City urban cores paying around 4.96 million dong and successively cheaper regions below. A tripartite council negotiates adjustments every couple of years, balancing export-competitiveness against inflation and strikes in footwear and garment factories, where the floor is binding. Actual factory wages with overtime and bonuses commonly run above the floor. Figures are approximate 2024 council decisions.
